Tuchel’s post-Man City Press Conference :
Thomas Tuchel: “What a performance in the second-half.”
Thomas Tuchel: “It was very hard so I’m absolutely impressed by the reaction, and I think we deserved the win in the second-half.”
Thomas Tuchel: “You need a bit of luck, but we had many half chances. Big, big congratulations to the team for the second-half.”
Thomas Tuchel on Timo Werner: “He was working like a dog. I’m not sure if I can say this. He was working so hard. No complaints.”
Thomas Tuchel: “This result will not change the final being a unique game. We have to be prepared, there will be changes. But we know we can beat them.”
Thomas Tuchel on Andreas Christensen’s injury: “I hope it’s not too bad. It will be absolutely bitter-sweet if it’s a longer injury.”
Thomas Tuchel on what did it take to get back into match: “We were lucky, that it did not take too much to come back, lucky we were not 2-0 down. It was not a tactical drama, just the one individual situation in the last four minutes. It can happen, then suddenly we were 1-0 down. The we had this moment with one player less, we lost structure and conceded a very, very harsh decision and I am happy that Mendy kept us in the game. Could we have lost the game in those minutes? Yes. Did we deserve to? No.”
Thomas Tuchel on the second half: “Confidence was growing, we had more and more quality. I will never deny you need a bit of luck in football on your side and we had it in the second half. It is a big win, a fantastic team performance. It was a huge impact mentally Real Madrid and a fantastic reaction from the boys.”
Thomas Tuchel on Clear plan and clarity: “Yeah but it’s the best to have consecutive performances that lead to results. In the dressing room, the boys are all super tired. But this is what you need, to feel this strong bond. These experiences, these wins, these big games. Like I said we need to be lucky but the group is doing everything to force the luck on our side.”
Thomas Tuchel on The no penalty decision: “I only saw it live, I was in fear that he would give it. I feel the first one was a 50-50 decision. If you don’t whistle it live then I don’t think VAR would overturn it. First penalty We were one man down through injury. I think Raheem Sterling was lucky to be on the field after he had a huge foul on Timo Werner.”
