Apostolic Christian Council of Zimbabwe (ACCZ)’s executive President, Arch-Bishop Johannes Ndanga has this week in Mhondoro pleaded with the government to consider indigenous remedies as priority to contain the novel virus and also consider massive investment in scientific research by local medical experts on all outsourced or donated vaccines in order to boost social security will amongst apostolic membership.
While speaking during the burial of his organisation’s late chief registrar, Leonard Muchineripi Kavhu who died recently after a short illness, outspoken Ndanga pleaded with the government that there should be a multi-stakeholder engagement with various representatives of the society in finding lasting solution to contain covid-19 countrywide.
Ndanga said, “As an organisation, we have observed that there is need to intensify and equip our health personnel or experts so that they will be well resourced in the government’s endeavour to contain the novel virus.
“This involves educational awareness and training programmes, scientific research programmes for health experts and members of our diversified religious communities to ensure that there is clarity and ensured security to those perceiving outsourced vaccines as having side effects.
“As vapostori we encourage the government to invest in scientific research on all out-sourced vaccines, while also ensuring that the indigenous knowledge systems and experts are vital in containing the novel virus and we are quite confident that our government is the supreme custodian all citizens, who amongst bulky of them include vapostori and should therefore tirelessly work towards clearing of the misconception that some vaccines donated in Africa have long-term effects,” Ndanga remarks.
There are growing misconceptions on the uptake of the recently outsourced donated vaccine from China, as citizens are contemplating on consider it as remedy to the novel virus.
